Orphanage Budget: $2,500 per month (supports 50-60 children and keeps the orphanage running with food, clothing, medical care, education, transportation, utilities, household items like blankets, light bulbs, soap, etc.)

Staff Support: $700 per month (supports full time staff, cooks, security guards, and tutors)

Note: Before 2008 running the orphanage cost $2,200 per month. Now our total cost has come to $3,200 per month, but we have never reached this budget. The recent global crisis in food cost and availability is pretty harsh for us. One example: In 2007 one bag of rice in Nampula cost $10.37. As of August 2008 one bag of rice went all the way up to $30.00. We need 21 bags of rice (each is 25 kilos) per month, so in one year our rice budget alone went from $217.77 to $630.00 per month.
