Félex was born in Nampula and came to the orphanage in the same way as his younger sister, Silas. Soon after coming to the orphanage, the staff discovered that Félex was very talented musically. When local music teachers came to work with the kids, Félex learned to play every instrument and was soon teaching other kids as well. In the orphanage band Félex plays drums, keyboard, acoustic and bass guitar, saxophone, and accordion. At this time he worked on musical arrangements and the band recorded a CD and played at events all over the region.
Félex is also a gifted artist and loves to draw. He enjoys playing soccer and is on the field whenever there’s a game. Félex is an extremely kind young man who always includes and looks out for other kids. He is naturally hospitable and friendly and instantly makes others feel at ease. He has worked hard to learn English and loves to host visitors. Félex has always shown a level of maturity and responsibility beyond his years, and he has been an amazing and vital asset to the atmosphere of the orphanage. He is a thoughtful and dedicated Christian and has always set a great example to the younger kids who all respect and look up to him.
After graduating from secondary school Félex trained to be an electrician and is working in that area while he prepares to attend a music school in Brazil. He is still at the orphanage, now as a staff volunteer, overseeing the music program and teaching kids to play various instruments. His dream is to set up a music school.
